Description
Karl Storchmann is a co-founder and the executive director of the American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE). He is also a co-founder and editor of AAWE’s academic publication, the Journal of Wine Economics. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Bochum, Germany (1998).
After a postdoctoral year at UCLA and Yale University, he was a lecturer in Yale’s Economics Department from 2000 to 2005. From 2005 to 2009, he was an associate professor at Whitman College. Since 2009, Karl Storchmann has been a Clinical Professor of Economics at New York University.
Dr. Storchmann is an applied microeconomist whose research focuses on environmental and industrial organization issues related to energy, transportation, and the wine market. He has published in academic journals such as the American Economic Review, the Review of Economics and Statistics, Agricultural Economics, the Journal of Wine Economics, the Review of Industrial Organization, Energy Economics, and Transportation.
