Description

Monika Christmann studied beverage technology from 1980 to 1983 at the Fachhochschule Geisenheim. She completed her oenology studies at the University of Giessen in 1985 and obtained her diploma. In 1988, she obtained her doctorate with a thesis on "Changes in ingredients with particular attention to wine aromas during the dealcoholisation of wines by combined dialysis-aspiration distillation". In 1994, Monika Christmann took over as head of the cellar management department at the Geisenheim research station. At the same time, she was professor of cellar management at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, specialising in viticulture and beverage technology. She has been pursuing these two activities since 1994, today at the University of Applied Sciences in Geisenheim and at the Institute of Oenology.Monika Christmann has been a member of the German delegation to the OIV since 1995. From 2004 to 2010, she was chair of the Wine Technology Committee, from 2009 to 2010 chair of the Oenological Commission and from 2012 second vice-president of the OIV, Claudia Quini from Argentina.
