The presentation will introduce the current challenges for sparkling wine production and then focus on Chenin blanc as a signature variety of the Loire Valley, France and South Africa. It will present the ongoing climate and agronomy trends for Chenin in the Loire Valley.
To understand the expected impacts over the 21st century, South Africa can be seen as a future climate analogue for Chenin in the Loire Valley. The presentation will draw on topics such as varietal innovation and sustainable farming lessons to conclude on perspectives for sparkling wine production.
